Scratch & Sniff
National Call to Artists
Prospectus:
“Scratch & Sniff: a synesthetic art show experience”
Description: Ever smell a color? Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation or one sensory cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. This show hearkens each viewer to experience Synesthesia by presenting art that combines two or more senses to be experienced simultaneously.
Call to artist: Join us in a celebration of synesthesia at the 317 Art Collective. Artists are asked to present two or more pieces meant to be experienced together. For instance a painting paired with a smell, or a sculpture that also can be heard. If you are presenting a smell, must be submitted in a seal-able jar or container so it can be closed. Submissions should include any photos and a detailed description of any additional materials that may be un-photographable ie: “I will present the smell of tobacco and wet squirrel in an oil form in a re-sealable jar to accompany the attached painting of smoking squirrel.”
